Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden
Brief summary:
According to the Bible, Adam and Eve were the first man and woman created by God. They were placed in the Garden of Eden, a paradise, where they were given free will and instructed not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, they were tempted by a serpent, often identified as Satan, to eat the forbidden fruit. When they did so, they gained knowledge of good and evil, but they also disobeyed God's command. As a result, they were expelled from the Garden of Eden, and sin entered the world, leading to the human condition of mortality and suffering.
The story of Adam and Eve is often interpreted in various ways within religious and literary contexts. It has been the subject of numerous artistic and literary works and has been used to explore themes such as temptation, disobedience, and the human condition.
